NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (June 14)- The Texas Brahmas' (Central Hockey League) blueline took a youth movement Monday as they announced the signing of Jim Burichin for the 2010-11 season.
Burichin, 24, comes to Texas after a four-year collegiate career at Niagara University. As a student athlete, the Strongville, OH native played in 97 games for the Purple Eagles and built the reputation as a solid defensive leader. In his senior year last season, Burichin led the team with 38 blocked shots and posted a career best five points (5 A).
Prior to joining the NCAA rankings, the 6-foot, 200-pound defenseman played with the Bay State Breakers of the EJHL (Eastern Junior Hockey League) netting 13 points (1 G, 12 A) in 45 games. Burichin’s career began in 2003 in the NAHL (North American Hockey League) where he experienced two seasons in the league and 80 games.
Texas Head Coach Dan Wildfong looks forward to the addition of Burichin to the Brahmas’ lineup.
"We will look to Jim to fill in the role as a steady defenseman. His reputation will keep him held accountable to be able to play at this level in addition to being a physical presence on the blueline," Wildfong said.
