Kingston, MA ~ The Breakers Eastern Jr. Hockey League team held their Main Camp July 18-22, for the top 40 potential prospects for the 2012-13 season. Players from California, Nebraska, New York, New Jersey, Texas, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Florida, Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Wisconsin, and of course Massachusetts converged on the Rockland Ice Rink in Rockland, MA for two days prior to competing in the EJHL Summer Showcase in Marlboro, MA.
The prospects were broken up into two teams gray and green for the week, as each team participated in two practices and two scrimmages before leaving for Marlboro on Friday morning for the Showcase. The two teams competed in a 3 game round robin play prior to the cross-over games on Sunday. Between the both teams the Breakers went 5-0-1 in their respective round robin divisions qualifying them for the playoffs on Sunday. Sunday was much of the same. The Breaker teams would win their first playoff games to move onto the second round in which both the green and gray teams would bow out of the tournament.
"It was a great evaluation for the players. Each player participated in two practices and 7 games in a five day period. You could see the fatigue setting in on Sunday, but they still battled hard. I like the make-up of our team once we combine the two teams into one which will be the majority of our 2012-13 Bay State Breakers squad. As a staff we look forward to the start of the season, stated Head Coach McCauley".
